Baby Crib Safety

Keeping your baby crib safe is almost as important as your baby’s safety. The safety of all cribs should comply with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) safety requirements. Additional safety standards have also been set by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and are certified by the Juvenile Product’s Manufacturer’s Association (JPMA).

We have some more crib safety advice for you to follow so you and your baby could feel safe and secure with your new purchased baby crib.

Crib Safety Rail
Babies like to explore. They like to shove their head and fingers through holes and openings in order to define their surrounding space. That’s why you need to make sure your baby crib slats are no more than 2 3/8 inches apart so that your baby will not get stuck between the railings.

Some babies feel the urge to sneak out of their cribs. Therefore, when in raised position, the crib side top rails should be at least 26” above the top of the mattress support at its lowest position, that way your little one should have a hard time crawling out of his or her baby crib. Always be sure to fully raise and lock the drop side railing every time you place your baby in the crib.

When the time comes and your baby can reach a standing position, keep the mattress at its lowest position. You should stop using the crib once the height of the top rails is less than three-fourths of the child’s height.

Crib Mattress Safety
Place your baby on his or her back in the crib. Use a firm, tight-fitting mattress that will not move or slide within the baby crib. Make sure the mattress isn’t too soft so that your baby couldn’t bury his or her face in it and suffocate.

Cribs Safety
Some children are quite energetic while in their baby cribs, so we encourage you to make sure from time to time that non of the crib joints or brackets have loosen up, even if the crib has been properly assembled at the time of purchase.

If you find anything that has been damaged, fix it or replace it immediately. Remember, you will feel much more relaxed when you know your baby is sleeping safe and sound in his or her secured crib… sweet dreams.
